Gina Carano Fired From Disney and The Mandalorian
Gina Carano will no longer be in the Mandalorian. I will not share the details due to Steam rules, but look up the tweet that resulted in her termination.
This is just WRONG. It's not because the character is necessarily indispensable, but because of their reasons for taking her off. Disney has gone too far this time.
To repeat a tweet, "This is not the way."

They were still shamed and exposed online and threatened with losing their jobs (I guess they were allowed to keep them after the initial outrage died down a bit).
Which is not a problem. I know the US treats teacher qualification with a bit less rigour in general than we do over here (wouldn't know about individual states), but it's still reasonable to expect educational institutions to do better than that incident showed.

You didn't answer my hypothetical question though.
Yes, I know. I posted in the thread to discuss the topic, not to indulge fishing trips. If you want to say something you can always just say it.

That's because you didn't communicate it well, despite thinking that you did.
How would you have worded it? I think the format of the question is quite straight-forward.

I think I already included that further down in the very same post you just quoted. :/

Oh it was a different question, but it doesn't matter now.

I have said it and you understand my point perfectly. There is no point trying to explain it further when you are deliberately missing the point.

...
... Can you suggest an example of somebody who has had their "life destroyed" because these unspecified "certain groups" have arbitrarily decided something is offensive? Is your concern based in any kind of reality?

Also, I would suggest not trying to convince someone who makes baseless accusations, because they don't believe in "paying attention" to what gets posted, that baseless accusations don't happen - because that's irresponsible.

I was going to leave this entire exchange alone until this was said.

What you attempted to explain was pretty terribly conveyed and didn't make a whole lot of sense as multiple other people have pointed out now.

I dont know why you posted the other post then wanted to double down after saying it didnt matter now to attempt to leave on the new post that I quoted.

Sure it is (not). It's not like I was THERE for that topic ...or REMEMBER it.

( I -WAS- an active participant in that topic, on a public forum & I remember it quite well.)

That people shouldn't be publicly exposed and shamed because they are ignorant of changes happening in the society around them? That people who create and support these changes should have a responsibility to educate those who are unaware, rather than just throwing them to the lions? Which part is unclear?

Well that post wasn't an accusation, it was a question. Based on the fact that I found it unusual and creepy (forgive me for having a stalker complex) that you knew stuff about me. Almost like you, at some point, must have taken enough of an interest in me to perform background research on me.

No, people should be if they say things that are very messed up while holding a position like that.

This was always a thing even before social media became the giant it is today.

And no, that is not what you conveyed lol. You had a very convoluted example.
I literally thought you were talking about the gang "Bloods", a very more well known group in the world but the rest of what you were saying didn't fit so it just became a jumble.

The reality is you are ALWAYS held accountable for the things you say.
Social media created a wall to shield you and people found a way to get over that wall.
You are never free to just speak your mind without consequences.
If you went into a certain culture and said something offensive, odds are you are going to not get off the hook easily.

I dont know how something that has been a thing as far back as the early 1900s is magically now suppose to just be rampant with no repercussions.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be held accountable for being outwardly offensive. I'm saying society is changing and people are now being deemed offensive without even knowing why they are being deemed offensive. I'm saying people can create unwritten rules, and if you live under a rock, you are a social pariah because you didn't know 'persons of colour' was a thing.
