Indeed, you've got a variety of games based off gaming universes that were mostly pretty good with attendant books. Shadowrun, BattleTech, that sort of thing.
Transformers Devastation is new, based off the REAL Transformers, not Michael Bay crap, if you're into them, and it was done well.
That's about all I can think of for now.
ROFL.
I am, but you've gotta admit, the way you said it........hahaha! It sounds like one of those kids who thinks the movie was just a movie and wasn't based on a war! XD
Everybody knows that World War 2 was just a made up fiction to sell war bonds. Just ask Mel Gibson.
Dang it. That is too perfect...
Sure it can. Remember Coppola's Apocalypse Now? It's Heart of Darkness recast in the Vietnam War, but that doesn't mean that the video game that almost was wasn't based on Apocalypse Now. http://kotaku.com/the-apocalypse-now-video-game-that-almost-was-804987273
Same with Tunnel Rats. It's based on the movie. Not the history.
That's actually a good point. I guess a game CAN be based on a movie entirely, since SPR had NOTHING to do with any historical events beyond the Sullivan Brothers in the Navy, on the opposite side of the world, who all died on the same ship, and the fact that there was a Normandy invasion.
Oh, but it's still funny. When that movie came out, we had to do reports on it for history class, of all things. Like it had something to do with history. You know, because P-51 fighters regularly bombed German Tiger tanks and the Army wasn't stuck on the beaches for months with NO way to advance, much less rescue people who had gone ahead, since there weren't any.
We had to do these reports, though, and some kids didn't even know which war the movie was based on, with two who didn't know it was based on a war at all. They just thought it was a general war movie. Public Education is truly priceless. You can't get that kind of quality entertainment anywhere else.
