In the future we will see downloadable games over 100 GB in file size?
I have read that the new game coming out by Chris Roberts Star Citizen will be at LEAST 100 GB....I am downloading Just Cause 3 and it took me a day to get that! And it was 38.5 GB.

Do you think in the future we will see downloadable games increase to that kind of size?

One thing is for sure...if they start getting that big, developers need to find a way to archive them to the smallest size possible and places like STEAM will have to start letting people download a week early before the game unlocks.

As technology advance's with video game's the size will too, I can imagine that one day there will be a 500GB game or even a 1TB game, but with size come's bigger space, just wait till someone make's something bigger then a TB.

It's called a Petabyte, which is 1024 Terabytes - you will find Google uses that already (There's over one hundred petabytes of free Google cloud storage)... then there's Exabyte and Zettabyte.

Wow, I never knew such space and storage existed.
PC-game discs thesedays may seem as unnecassery but I promise you they will make a comback in the future, its just a matter of time.
And yet a 100gb game could still be downloaded nearly instantly using the trans-pacific connection.
The tech already exists, its just a case of waiting till its available to the masses.

Games used to fit on a single 3.5" floppy drive.
I still have Wing Commander on 5.25"

Well... they better start selling physical copies again, because i am not going to leech 100GB through my line for a single game.

I wouldn't be so sure. Chances are, by now the disks are demagnetized.

My country doesn't even manage to get DSL to all of its inhabitants. We have still areas where people only can access the internet with Dail-up. Granted, those are kinda remote, but still...

And in my place, i have the fastest line available in my region and its still takes over a day to download 40gb.. provided i do nothing else.

So if Developers want to create games the in excess of that, they better start selling physical copies again, because they will lose quite a few customers if they don't.

Of course. There is one game I have that is 79GB. I am sure that within the next five years it will break the 100GB barrier often.

Good thing I have a 100 terabyte hard drive.
just break it into chapters or areas like dlc, i think devs really dont care since they dont download their games over internet.
