I still listen to their old stuff and until the Crimson Idol album they were a great band but their lyrics were more to the dark side, so to speak, so I stopped buying their albums after Idol, made some great rock ballads too.

Yeah of course I remember them! 80's bands have a special place in my heart xD

That's a nice observation, I'm sure most people here does not agree with every band, but there is mutual respect, something I really do appreciate when it comes do music (and pretty much everything). I just think it's dumb to argue about music, it's a matter of taste I guess

On a more serious note;
Metallica does not count as metal any more. They sold out so hard, and turned into such collosal douche nozzles that it rippled back and ruined even their old stuff. Not to mention being one of the loudest whiners about "piracy". Hetfield even had the nerve to do an interview in his huge, decked out, hunting lodge and ♥♥♥♥♥ about how hard it was on them.

The two best things they ever did were kicking out Dave Mustane for "partying too hard", and not accepting Less Claypool(because he would have upstaged them all with out even trying).
