Does anyone remember Dink Smallwood?
Something reminded me today about a game that had faded into the back of my mind. I've spent many hours today dreaming of my previous life as a pig farmer and a quest of murder and revenge (and chickens.)

I remember playing this game back in 1998 when i got a demo CD from PC Games Magazine. It was one of those demos i spent hours playing. This odd game with goofy graphics, finnicky controls and sparse instructions. But Dink Smallwood exudes a unique and undeniable charm that even today you'd be hard pressed to find a game quite like it. After laying into serious negiotions with my parents it eventualy became the first thing we ever bought online. $25 plus shipping. Recently found out the original creator sold all his copies in one year and was then released as freeware. Was thrilled to find out i was one of the few people who got to support the developer.

Vaguely
It was my first encounter with that kind of game, and I think I accidentally "stole" something from another player so I pissed him off :p

I still have the cd in a blank case and works okay in win11.

I remember hearing of it but I have never played it. It is free on GOG though, so I guess go check it out if you haven't.

I actually might given that it's giving me those Dark Sun and Faery Tale Adventure vibes. Also Illarion for some reason.

I can't believe that game is still active by the way. Sure, two players online at the time of this post but it still counts. Highest player count I ever saw was maybe 28 and that was in 2006 I think.

Backwater hillbillies of the online role-playing game community indeed.

LMAO

I remember taking 3 days to download this game at approx 7-10kbs having to use a download recovery program back in 1999. I had a very old 33.6k Sportster win modem and 64 mb of ram... The damn game was only about 25mb in size...

The appearance of Millie Vanilli in the game was a funny touch for its time......

not many people remember this game hahahaha

Played it when it first went freeware in 1999. It was an entertaining enough distraction for what it was.
