How is Origin?
No doubt that Steam has been inexcusably slow. I've been struggled trying to access forums, make purchases, and even properly play games that involve multiplayer. I'm going to be blunt: This is a waste of a time.

Seeing that Valve isn't making any mention of this, I'm going to assume that the situation isn't going to get any better in the future.

So before I plan on making the switch to Origin, I just wanted to hear what people think about EA's digital-distribution platform.

Yea I know EA is evil or yadi yadi yada, but I would rather use a service that actually works. I can't even reach Steam Support for Christ's sake.

Speaking objectively, Origin is ♥♥♥♥ compared to Steam. However, it at least seems to maintain consistent uptime and doesn't seem to ever break in a way that causes any of it's extremely limited scope of features to fail.
Origin sucks. If you are going to switch go to GoG. Nothing compares with the reliability of DRM-free.
Origin as a platform is fairly good, and achieves its purpose quite well.

Its the company running the show that makes Origin a hated thing.
EA runs Oirigin, and EA is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass company there for Origin is ♥♥♥♥ cause EA cant do anything right.
just play on whatever game platform you want in any moment.
i have both steam and ea origin and not really a fanboy of either one.

steam has tf2, dota2 as permanent freebies.
ea origin has ra2+yuri's revenge as current time-limited giveaway.
Origin sells games. That is pretty much it.

Steam offers this fine collection of social forums.

Both work, but Steam is a little flakier, especially during sales. Or when I want to buy something.
Depends on what your tastes in gaming are.
Unless its very broad and all encompassing, you'll likely only find a handful of games to play.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I've decided to not make the switch, I'll wait and see how Valve handles Steam instead.
Origen does not and can not replacd steam. In IMHO the only reason they made it is so people could have a conveneint game download experience similar to steam without having to pay steam the rediculus 20% fee per sale. They only have EA games on origen nothing else.

I have seen some third party titles on Origin. EA simply made Origin so they could compete for the market share and avoid having to pay Steam the rightfully earned 30% cut. That cut is how a retailer makes money...goes for any retailer. Gamestop actually takes 60%....so Steam takes half of that. There is nothing ridiculous about that cut at all.

EA invested money into Origin and figured they might as well benefit from the investment. Though I don't care for EA... I can't blame them for that.

As far as the Origin app itself, I don't care for it very much. It has a store and you can buy games on it. It works decently enough and all that. But it lacks the extra features that Steam has and the sales are usually garbage in comparison to Steam. Plus I like to keep my stuff on one list.

So the servers have been acting up for the past few days. Big deal. Get over it.

Let me enlighten you from the allegory of the cave you live in.

More than just a few days. It's been months since the first symptoms of Steam servers being a unstable mess, and it's progressively getting worse as Halloween sale and winter sale approaches.

There are a few reasons for why this is concerning. Valve often does a hit & run with what they do with Steam; Greenlight and Early Access supports this as Valve does zero effort to make it a better system, unless of course it affects their profits negatively. Their Steam Support is just borderline laughable and it has progressively gotten worse over this year.

In addition, Steam only recently added refunds. No one asked for paid mods but Valve thought it was a better idea than to solve issues people were actually complaining constantly, and well yea the Steam controller/machine sounds cool but seriously guys?

It's just a waste of time, you get it? If Valve is not even going to bother improving the stuff they're responsible of, which is no way near flawless, then why should I invest time and money into a service that promotes inconvenience and wastes time?
Oh, so now it's not only about the "unstable" servers, but how Valve runs Steam?
Don't like it? Don't use it. Simple.
It's fine, just a bit plain.

I used evidence to support why I'm having issues with the servers and how it's not simply a "Big Deal. Get over it." but since not a single point of criticism to Steam goes through your dense head, I realize telling you this will also be pointless.

I could say the same for you: If you don't have anything remotely helpful to say, then get out --but that would put me in the same category as "trolls" and simple-minded people so feel free to offer your deep insight.
