Get a closed ear headset, or closed headphones and a separate omni-directional noise-cancelling microphone.

Depends on Mic sensitivity. I had a similar issue when recording video, as I would earphone up to prevent youtube hassles, but the mic, usually aimed at your face, could snag the audio, and do it pretty unhindered.

So what is the fix? turn the mic sensitivity down?

Do you have anything called 'Stereo Mix' or similar listed in your Recording Devices? If so, try disabling it. Though I've only seen such an option for motherboards with Realtek audio tech. :/

Depends on the mic. Normally, you just grab someone, start listening to something, and adjust the mic until they can hear you clearly and not what is playing over the headset.

But some man programs can snag try and snag control of the mic, which can lead to annoyances. I had to install Skype to adjust m mic volume, but mine is a special example.

Then another piece of software is taking control of the mic. As a base example, have you tried just adjusting it in mixer, or have you tried adjusting it in Steam too?
Don't use Stereo Mix as your sound source in control panel.

:-P

No just the mixer

how do i do it in st6eam?
You want Control Panel, Hardware, Sound, Recording devices, right click JUST the microphone and make it your default Recording Device.

:-)

Already dont that i disabled everything but my mic

Control Panel >Sound > Recording > Properties

Make sure the correct microphone is set as default and it's not running via something else.

Ensure "Listen to this device" is DISABLED, turn that off if on.

Consider lowing the sensitivity levels of the microphone there too (not set to max / boosted). As the Razer Kraken Pro microphone is already quite sensitive.

Install the latest version of Razer Synapse software (you can get from the offical Razer website) and adjust the settings in their too for your headset. There should be Ambient Noise Reduction. You will want to adjust that. Start off easy and tweak.

For example, try:

Mic Volume - 70
Mic Sensitivity - 70
Volume Normalization - 25
Ambient Noise Reduction - 15

Under Steam > Settings > Voice, yet again adjust the microphone volume there, and test it while speaking. You want it to be in the green (not red).
