I've been told it's not uncommon for newer drivers to try speeding up when they start hydroplaning because hydroplaning slows you down. Though who is to say for sure.

It is especially nasty when one is driving an empty pick-up truck. The back end really wants to come around. The only way to not spin is to take one's foot off the gas.
