Romance of the Twelve Kingdoms
Space Patrol Luluco
Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars
I dont think it's any of that, but rather cringe than anything else. Still way better than anything Hollywood does

Texhnolyze
Space Dandy
Nope. Thats why I said anime is better than anything hollywood does. There is a lot of effed up crap in both, but I think Hollywood is a much bigger concern. Regardless, both are trash to me but anime is better regardless
Anyway, if you want a good tear jerker anime, "A Letter for Momo" is pretty good.
Slice of Life? "Amagami SS".
Check out:
Rising of the Shield Hero
Cowboy Bebop
Black Lagoon
Psycho-pass
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Mix of action and story with, IMO, emotional or ethical themes. Cowboy Bebop is sorta a slow starter since it seems random/episodic for the first half.
