Best stealth game franchise on Steam
During the next steam sale, I am thinking a new stealth game. The only real experience I have with stealth games are in the Hitman 2016 reboot and the Miami level of the next game. I just want thoughts and opinions on what stealth game I should get.

MGS V is quite fun, even if it ain't 'fully stealth' commited like first few games, those aint on steam but could be fun. Id guess Asassins's Creed Series and Earlier Hitman games could work too [later might be bit harder if you decide to go for codename 47 and Silent assassin, really old, clunky and buggy those 2 are] From what i heard Thief and SpliterCell are also good games but, those are ones i never played. And if im not mistaken, Dishonored too. Those are the ones that on top of my head are more stelath focused, only others ones i actually played have stealth more as an option, such as Far Cry games.

The Thief games, before the modern remake.

Thief and Splinter Cell are the best. Ignore the Thief from 2014 though, it sucks. Also, Metal Gear Solid V and Dishonored are good too.

Thief (1 and 2 at least), Styx and Dishonored

Hitman 2 (2018)
Splinter Cell Blacklist

Metal gear solid V is by far my favourite stealth game ever. Hitman blood money the number two.

Depends how you feel about mechanics and AI.

The AI in games like Phantom Pain is just atrocious. I swear the guards have glaucoma and brain damage. Honestly it's just Just Cause 2 but with a really generous stealth system stapled onto it.

Hitman 2016 was a clunky console port, and the disguise system is semi-broken. Even a non-stealth game like The Saboteur or New Vegas does that mechanic far better if that's what you're looking for.

Dishonored looks cool, but that's less of a stealth/ immersive sim than it is just an action game with stealth elements. It's a far cry from Thief, which it was clearly trying to be. Thief 1, 2, 3 are probably better options if you want immersive sims.

Deus Ex and Splinter Cell are probably the best pure stealth series I know of. The stealth mechanics are really refined. Styx has its moments too.

Eh you sure Phantom Pain AI is that bad? I admit it has somewhat low 'view distance' but compared to, well of what i played of MGS series, its quite good, gives a good laugh every now and then.

Oldie but goldie. The Predator and Alien story campaigns are all stealth and ambush.

Lots of sneaking around in this one and if you got Roman you can pretty murder anyone easy in stealth or going loud.

I was always sneaking around in this one.

Another stealth and ambush game.

Metro series can be a KO fest. The way the work out the good ending Last Light is a bit obtuse. Though in Exodus you can scrape out a good ending if you only murder one of three factions people. I spent a lot of time KO'ing mutants and Peter Pan rejects in that one.

The enemies will ignore you until you are ten feet (or about three meters) from their face. I've seen enough footage to know this isn't a fluke. Also you can ride your horse within view of an outpost and they completely ignore you. And the invisibility-cloaking cardboard box is ridiculous. I'm sure it's amusing, but as a hardcore stealth fan I have to roll my eyes when people point to that as a selling point. It's baby-proofed stealth on the level of The Last of Us.

I compare MGS V to Just Cause 2 because the enemies in JC will hunt you to the ends of the earth and can often spot you before you see them. You have to literally get out of sight to lower your wanted level. You play too sloppy and snipers, anti-aircraft guns, rocket troops, and paratroopers will kick your butt. The risk is so much higher and accomplishment so much more rewarding. JC isn't even built with stealth in mind, yet it's probably a better stealth game.

Ye i actually am aware of, them being blind, only when crawling tho, they still seem sane when you crouch, not perfect, but not too dumb. The only time i know id get seen on a horse is if im like, close and riding, if you like get on the side, ye you can't be seen but otherwise i didn't noticed much problems. And invisibile cardboard box like other game helping items like parasite suit and chicken hat lower your rank and are unavaliable in MP, and are just meant for dumb fun so, i don't see much problem. It does much more cator to openess than MGS 2, though i do feel it gives solid experience when you experiment more rather than just, 100% a stat and yolo it. But this is derailing the thread right now, id still say its good enough to pick up

Deus Ex, Thief and the Dishonored series are the best you're gonna find on Steam.

Honorable mention: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Splinter Cell and Hitman are important to the genre, too, but I don't like them.
