As the title, if there are any mods here anyway, what is the rule regarding politics in Off Topic?

Well... you can talk about it as long as it doesn't get too wild. And yes... some threads do get wild and stays up. Idk why but it does sometimes.

Moderators don't respond to threads except to lock them. There are no volunteer mods anymore. It's now outsourced to a 3rd party company and the new moderation doesn't interact with the community at all and they just use empty shell accounts to moderate.

But to answer your question, politics are no longer against the rules. Same with threads about religion. Valve removed those topics from being against the rules like a year or two ago.

The moderators don't care until they do and by then it's usually pretty stupid no matter what action they take.

unless maybe you have a specific thing in mind... I've checked topics with them before.... they'll either not care or tell you no... then you have ground to stand on if they moderate you.

I recall a day in ancient times when it was a moderator's job to lead by example(even light participation in the forums is noticed and appreciated) and iron out any questions before even considering reaching for the ban hammer. It seems nobody wants to take the time on both sides(users and moderators) to actually talk things out.

I know I've always tried to take the time... to the point that the folks over at steam have probably been ripping their hair out.

they just don't like to listen sometimes, eh? like they fire off these automated messages telling people that they've "looked into a ban and it's justified" which they claim are totally real and they've totally looked into it...

but they've also "looked into it" and considered something I've been unjustly banned for multiple times and that had been overturned a week prior to be a "legitimate ban" so that's obviously just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

like really mods, you're not volenteers right? you're being payed? do your job.

users cant talk things out, they simply get banned. Sure you can contact support afterwards and get a prescripted response. Youre better off just talking to chatgpt about your issues with the forums, itll be just as effective
