daddy issues: have women evolved to seek an older mate?
It seems like the prevailing view is that if a woman's dating a man who's a good decade older, she must have some daddy issues.

what's ur take on this? do u buy into that?

and about these significant age gaps; do u think women are actually better off with an older guy?

what is the ideal age gap in ur opinion?

Disclaimer: The common belief that the women who choose much older partners because of having “daddy issues” was unfounded by a study conducted by Skentelbery, S. G.[doi.org].

science should be accessible to the public 100% but it needs to be funded.
science is funded by the government, or private companies R&D departments, journals have nothing to do with it
im sure at some point somewhere a journal has funded research. maybe im wrong, maybe you are wrong.

no they're not, fully digitalised journals can easily subsist purely off of donations
donations from whom?
Wikipedia exists due to donations
but there are a lot of scientific journals, where to get such a number of patrons?
government funding makes the most sense, it's already happening anyway through APCs in open access journals, the author pays the fees through the funding they got from the government or private entity that funded their work

I have always dated younger women, recently my current wife referred to me as "Daddy" and I almost spit out my drink. LOL, we both received a great laugh from it :)

So women want men with money?

I would say women want security.

And confidence. And humor. And a number of other important things.

Older men have younger men beat in a number of ways. And vice versa.

It's not really daddy issues but more environment and nurture. Women tend to want things such as marriage and family at a younger age compared to their men counterparts.
I've always wanted to get married. its something both men and women want, and I don't believe women necessarily want it earlier than men. what could play a role is that women hit puberty sooner and have a biological clock to consider.

I always liked older men because they seemed to be more mature, but even emotional intelligence in older men can be low.
imo maturity has nothing to do with age...

I think the best type of guy, regardless of age (but still within same age range), is someone who is nice by sincerity and not calculation, and is receptive to different perspectives, learning, and self-improvement.
same age rande? would u say a +-30% of ur age is a good range?

Experience definitely impacts maturity. The more you know, the more wisdom you obtain. There are people who bury their emotional deficits in media, however, and these people do not tend to grow very much emotionally, unfortunately.

I think a good rule of thumb when dating is +/- 4 years.

I googled it and found no evidence of your stem major . Didn't expect to either tbh. I'm a radio engineer does that count?

Anyone who's lived in the real world for two minutes knows this is untrue.

i dont think that everyone is able to process knowledge. otherwise everyone would mellow out at lates their 30s. but they choose to be ignorant

did u know that a higher age gap in relationships motivates the older partner to be mroe dedicated? dedication leads to satisfaction, satisfation leads to happiness

In general, men are happier when they're married and women are happier when they're single, mainly because the woman takes on a bunch of little and big roles, expectations, endures weaponized incompetence, etc., while the man usually only has a handful or less duties, like financial support and sometimes inconsistent/sporadic house repairs, grill in the summers, yard work, etc. I don't think that was mentioned in this vid, though. I've just read it elsewhere.

This video does say that women tend to have faster mortality rates in age gap relationships in either direction, and live longer in same age relationships, and men tend to live longer when women are younger.

Age gaps tend to increase divorce rates.

As for satisfaction, the studies find age gaps initially are satisfied but it decreases over time, as they have more parental and child type dynamics and same age dynamics have more of a partnership closeness and bonding.

(FYI, IPV is "intimate partner violence.")

My presumption is that people who are older are more dedicated to a younger partner because they know it's unlikely they will find another person who is young and hot who will want them, thus they will want to keep up with them to maintain hot fantasy sex.

Younger people may be more dedicated to older people because they're usually looking for the security dynamic. The power lies in the hands of the person with the financial stability. They can't just leave if they're not making an income, because then they might be homeless. This is especially detrimental with children.

Power dynamics become more balanced and equalized when the two people are of the same age and have their own sources of income, thus can remain together for true love and not because of some ulterior benefit, and they can leave each other when they're dissatisfied.

Because of this balance and equalization, it can also create a more close bond and connection.
