Are Gaming Backlogs a bad thing?
Picture this:
You proceed to buy a new game you want and then proceed to not play it and instead continue playing something you have and already spent so much time on.

Some will buy a bunch of new games and proceed to not play them. Some set up a gaming backlog / list and essentially force themselves to sit and complete each and every game on the list. I once planned this for a bunch of games i bought a long time ago

My view of Gaming Backlogs
It will just feel as if you are rushing yourself towards the next game while in session, and the next game, and the next game... unable to fully enjoy the games you bought without feeling of being rushed. Then when it's finally over, then what? Why did you decide to force yourself to complete all of those things?

My normal habit is finally playing a new game out of boredom or being burnt out. Doing the same for titles I haven't completed.

Not particularly.

I like owning a ton of games and just being able to pick something at random. It's nice having it already installed and ready to go.

I like to think it's a library not a backlog of games available to play if I want to.

Having a backlog is one of the best curses I could have ever asked for. When ever I'm struggling and need to get away. Oh, I've only played 48% of the games I purchased in the past 7 years. Time to blindly download without too much registered thought and be receptive to a new world filled with experiences I never thought possible. Or just be bummed out I'm playing shovelware that's been sitting in my library longer than the refund window.

duality of man

It's good if the backlog has games you want to play. If it's filled with games that you aren't excited about then it's a problem.

Quite the contrary: when I've finished a game, I can always just start another one.

While I don't have an "official backlog", I would never count games as "backlog" that I have no intention to play.
It legally enables me to never be bored.
Not necessarily a bad thing , often I feel like playing a specific kind of game , notice something I had since a long time , play it and sometimes even finish it.

I stopped buying games unless I intend to play them right then.

My backlog got too big between all my game libraries.

I always have a backlog. Cuz humble bundle in the past. And my friend buying me stuff. And just liking hard to 100% games

There are a handful of games I haven’t touched. Not saying I won’t ever touch them because I do. I recently got back into the Tekken series and taking gum and chewing names.

One thing I will say is that it's just good to have options. Also having a backlog does not mean you have to deal with it in any way. Or have to rush through it as you can move at your own pace.

Myself for example have Crash Bandicoot, Hogwarts, and more. Honestly may never get to them again with newer stuff always being released, but I still love the games.

Also mods, give me like an infinite backlog. Once I got minecraft, it was over not having a backlog.

just play what you like if you have the games available.

Another fun fact but it took me 1 entire year to beat the game “Jak 2” from the Jak and Daxter series. That’s me coming home from school and playing all night and even all day on weekends. Was it worth it? Yes.

Overall it's good to have options. I do feel that I don't appreciate the games to it's fullest as I tend to finish then move on rather than taking my time with games in the past.

And personally I've found games have less replayability once finished.
