Pretty much this. If the world goes to war, the internet's not gonna be around as we know it for very long.

One of the things you should do in war is blind your enemies communications.

The internet is literally pure communication.

You could play battleships by however far you could get a wire to go to other people.
Morse code required to learn.
Yes but there is more than a 0% chance the servers will go down.
I think playing games would be the least of your worries ....

More chance of playing Concord than ww3
I'm assuming people would be concerned with things other than playing videogames.
You might be able to play a Steamdeck from a bunker if the nuclear bombs and EMPs didn't fry the powergrid and Wifi towers.

Good to know that the Zoomers have their priorities straight.

The powergrid? They're going to hit the griddy? That's not good...I need to get this dub!

this post hit so hard
No, its not possible. If they take down the internet then how they gonna pretend WW3 is actually going on.

0% chance they gonna take down internet as can be seen from "all out war" in Ukraine/Russia and Israel/whatever

both those conflicts are claimed to be all out war but people still have internet.
…I'm pretty sure that the lucky ones in such an event would be those who died in the nuclear blasts and not the ensuing combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell hell that is fallout and dysentry. In either case you'll have bigger fish to fry in such a scenario. Like surviving, not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out your insides, avoiding any and all wind and rain given those are the two biggest vectors for conveying nuclear fallout, the list goes on ad infinitum.
Valve early on said if it be the case they have a way to break all locks if steam would fall.

If you mean "Global Thermonuclear War" then "no." In fact, very few human beings would be playing anything at all, forever. Innocent and guilty alike would share the same fate. There are no facilities capable of sheltering anyone for very long against such a thing, no matter what "preppers" say. They're just digging exceptionally deep graves.

It's far better to prevent than to prepare.
