I don't want to give Hollywood money for making a deliberately bad movie. I agree with the conclusion a lot of people are reaching. Joker 2 is a huge "F you" to the fans of Joker 1.
I hope this is another example where Hollywood loses money on a movie. We will see in another month or two.
What's not ok is not taking in account the reception of the film and actually making things right.
I agree if they had gone this direction, with Arthur Fleck becoming more and more disturbed by what his blind followers are willing to do to strike back at the system which has trampled them underfoot, it could have sent a very educational message to the audience "do not idolize people"
And then he could have been seduced by Harley Quinn, and decided to trust her, give her everything, and she would absolutely break him when he realizes she was leading him down the same terrible path of crime that his followers expected of him. He would confront her, and she would reveal she was never in love with Arthur Fleck, she always loved the Joker.
That would destroy his heart and soul, and complete his transformation. He would become the psychotic that we see in the Dark Knight.
Instead they gave us this turd of a movie. What is the message? "we don't like this character so we're going to beat him, rape him, and murder him in front of you. You should feel bad for identifying with him"
But they just created a martyr. Instead of carefully crafting a good story with an educational message, they spilled blood. Tried to kill the character they don't like, and now he's become an idea.

I think Joker 1 is going to become an ironclad cult classic because they fumbled Joker 2 so bad. They lashed out instead of trying to send a message, and now the character will live in the audience's head forever.
Any future movies about the Joker will get dismissed because of Joker 2. "That's not Arthur Fleck. The Joker is Arthur Fleck, and you killed him"
"loser guy gets scapegoated for being a criminal, Trial puts Loser in Jail, while in Jail the loser manipulates other losers to lash out against the system. The media Creates a circus out of it, Mean while another Loser who is emotionally disconnected from reality falls in love with the media circus image of the Main Loser in the story."
They fall in love and create a even more disconnected reality of emotional dysfunction and criminal activity."
through out the whole trailer i was just waiting to see "Batman" show up and put a stop to it.
go to old people's home, pick anybody, let them take you to the movies.
It worked for Walter White.
I myself have not done so yet.
