"Potential" release means there is nothing being stolen. So glad that is settled.

They do have a right to protect their IP. Doesn't mean they can't be criticized for how they do it.

Yay. You admitted they have a right to protect their ip and you dont have a right to steal it.

Good thing title 17 doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about your opinions or how you personally choose to criticize companies for how they handle their ips.

Fwiw, i agree. Nintendo is a bit too heavy handed imo. But my opinion means nothing. With that said, they still have a right to protect their ip if they choose and you dont have to like it.
There is no theft involved. Especially when dump the Switch cartridge I purchased.

They sure don't know about the Streisand Effect ...
Not really how it works in this case. If anything, suing Yuzu into the ground legitimately made it harder to get.

I really wanted to play a TotK mod the other day. A master mode mod similar to BotW's master mode. It finally came out in August. Emulation is usually how I do modding. Sheesh the emulation route is rough though. Rougher than just hacking the switch instead. As hacking your switch is just one of the steps to setting up Ryujinx as you need key files from it.

No one cares what you dump. We are talking about publicly available emulators. Code your own emulator, dump your own roms. No one gives a ♥♥♥♥ and Nintendo won't bother you. Release it on the internet and get sued. That's how it works. Understand?

Why are people still buying their games?
I stopped caring about Nintendo when they started going after Let's Plays on YouTube.

The world economy is f'ked up royal and Nintendo is likely wanting to cash in on it but to me it seems counter productive as you'll have to waste time in court.

The emulator themselves are not illegal as long as they don't break any DRM measures.

Ryujinx did not. It required product keys from a legitimate console.

While I could respect them wanting to protect their ips, they do it to themselves not releasing their games on PC they could make way more money they just choose not to.

Greedy and foolish
In the past, they've said they believe emulation to be anticompetitive.

Funny, the resell NES/SNES on the Wii/Wii U/3DS/online for Switch.

Wait until AI starts writing Emulators. This is gonna be a big game changer. Then Nintendo will try and sue AI developers. I can see it all play out.

That's a great overestimation of what AI can do.

Ironically I downloaded it a week before Nintendo took it down. Never did get the key files to use it though. I'd rather just hack my switch at that point and play my mods there instead of hacking my switch just to play on the emulator.

I didn't know multi-decade old games were still in the competition!

Their logic is that people will emulate old games and not play/but any new games.

People still emulate Post for randomizers to this day. Now that it's way easier to decompile N64 games, we will probably start seeing fan made PC ports of popular games appearing a lot more often.
