I really wanted to play a TotK mod the other day. A master mode mod similar to BotW's master mode. It finally came out in August. Emulation is usually how I do modding. Sheesh the emulation route is rough though. Rougher than just hacking the switch instead. As hacking your switch is just one of the steps to setting up Ryujinx as you need key files from it.
The world economy is f'ked up royal and Nintendo is likely wanting to cash in on it but to me it seems counter productive as you'll have to waste time in court.
Ryujinx did not. It required product keys from a legitimate console.

People still emulate Post for randomizers to this day. Now that it's way easier to decompile N64 games, we will probably start seeing fan made PC ports of popular games appearing a lot more often.
