Why Loud Cars?
Can someone explain to me the point of loud cars & trucks?

I seen some with big mufflers in the back of a truck

Some are street race cars making grunting noises as they take off at red light

is this sound soothing to them as well as to annoy us?

Just purely curious :zagsnooze:

Small fifth appendage

Compensating.
It could be the opposite. Maybe insanely large fifth appendage -- I'm talkin' John Holmes' hog leg -- but since it's improper and/or illegal to just whip it out, loud pipes to signify instead?

Yeah that's true.
Personally I like loud cars because it distracts people from my 10 inch donger. I want women to love me for my car, not my donger

Errrr just an FYI, a big muffler would generally mean they are not as loud.

Loud noises are badass
That's strange because I saw a big pick up truck with 2 big mufflers in the back - the size of tank bullet :gordon:

I have never been in a two-car accident while driving a vehicle with a loud exhaust.

One-car accidents, yes. But in every two-car accident I've had I was driving a vehicle with stock exhaust.

You should pity them.

To copy racers, of course. Races are exciting, both for males that like thrills and engines, as well as females that can be attracted by the races, particularly if you're the winner of one. I know, it sounds kinda dumb when I put it that simplistically, and the mechanics involved are more complex, but there's no denying the phenomenon.

That's how it started, anyway. From there, we have all kinds of "loud engine" sub-cultures that evolved along different paths, from bikers to drag racers to ricers. The loud engine is both a challenge and an attention-getter. "Look at what I built! (or modified, or bought) I bet it's better than your machine!" and then some contest ensues, and a good time is had by all.

And yes, the very loud engines are often annoying to those of us who already got past that stage and are doing something else now, but everyone understands competition, and it's not hard to remember being a teenager of any variety that did something similar. Or is it? God only knows with some kids these days, and what passes for their environment. Though we certainly have a bunch out-competing each other to be the most vulgar socialists that can burn down a city. I'd take the racer kids over those...anti-racists any day.

Small pp - big loud car.
Obnoxious personality - big loud car.
Doubt in sexuality - big loud car.

Take your pick.

Loud exhaust are fine.

Music that is blaring is not fine. Seriously, upgrade your system. Blaring is embarrassing.

so they can show off what little they have is what i noticed. And the harder and more times they rev their engines the less they have imo

I buy my cars for their engine note. A good exhaust makes it so I can hear my engine better and enjoy my ride.

Got a record monza exhaust on my Abarth 124 Spider and decatted my Supra. Cause hearing my car go vroom is fun.

There’s really nothing more to it than having fun
