i don't always buy every single indie game out there either. idgaf if the game is a masterpiece if it's my freedom to buy something in a free market.
cyberpunk dlc
i think i going to buy bg3 next black friday sale
bu i dont buy online aaa or aaa asking me to be online like assassin creed, dragon age
The most recent might have been Total War Warhammer 3. Because it's a great game with a great campaign. DLC is triple the price it should be though. So even if it's on sale, you still aren't getting a sale price.
A lot of brand new big titles I skip though. I skipped Dragon's Dogma 2 for the same reason I skipped assassin's Creed Odyssey. Micro transactions in a single player game that isn't even free.
Game: Same as old one with new graphics, lower FPS, harder on machine
Me: Didn't I just do this crap 2 years ago but with different maps?
Me: Steam Refund.
However, going with the assumption that companies like Ubisoft or EA make "AAA" games, and others do not -- does "Immortals Fenyx Rising - Gold Edition" count as AAA, by any chance? Because that's a recent Ubisoft purchase that I made.
Really disappointed with it, and hate the studio, which is the worst I've seen. The devs are greedy and only care about making money without fixing all the issues the base game has.
The game is nothing without mods. It's the first time I find a game where you have to spend a ton of time researching and adding mods for it to be sort of decent. And you still have issues because of mods being incompatible with one another or just buggy themselves.
Both the base game and the DLCs are overpriced. In any case, you should pay the mod developers, thanks to whom the game is enjoyable. The devs even took the work of some mod developers for their DLCs.
The community is a toxic cult where anyone thinking outside the hive mind is targeted. The devs allow bullying and cover it up. They censor people. Their followers post screenshots on Reddit of users who complain about the game developer so their peers harass them en masse, the devs being okay with it, of course.
If the game has a good campaign but awful multiplayer, I'll wait till the game is put for a significantly lower price or I might search for a 100% off discount :3
If the game is multiplayer only and I know the game is trash, I won't purchase the game.
My last AAA purchase was Helldiver's II. The devs made sure the game had no fun. So it's in the trash now.
This. If it's a game I'm interested in and will enjoy, I'll buy it.
And if it has stupid pointless DLC, I'll ignore them (since it's easy), rather than going on rants about. . . whatever it is those people yell about. /meh
I don't buy that many games in a year, so "big" or "AAA" games might be anywhere from 0-2 per year. (so yeah, the rise to $70 didn't bother me either. If $10 is going to break my budget, I shouldn't be gaming at all; and I'd been expecting the price to go up once the current console gen had released. Took longer than I expected to happen.)
Looking through my purchase history, major-publisher games bought at release for full price on Steam looks like it was Dragon's Dogma 2, Starfield, and Cyberpunk 2077.
I got Tiny Tina's Wonderlands at Steam release, but that was after Epic exclusivity ended, so it wasn't at game release or for full price.
And I got Diablo 4 on Battle-dot-net back when it came out.
Enjoyed all of them. /shrug
Rimworld is an indie game, not AAA.
I work with a guy who doesn't know that the console maker (he has a PS5, so Sony) doesn't make all the games he plays. He said "Playstation makes good games."
He also bought Skull and Bones with his brother and two friends. Then complained it wasn't good.
I'm so glad the indie scene blew up the way it did.
