Why? I'm curious, nothing more.
the show is too slow paced and the story telling is a bit annoying.
ofc u might have enjoyed it. my ex lpved the showed cuz she was new to anime.
No worries, you gave a satisfying answer.
I have some complaints with like the whole OP protagonist thing not being done very well at times (too much focus on "cool frieren moments" which draws attention from the more relatable characters), it's not very interesting to me when one of the strongest characters in a setting is shown kicking ass, but modern anime trends show that's apparently pretty big
but otherwise, I love the cast, and especially I really love the bittersweet undercurrent of a love that wasn't meant to be that defines frieren as a character and her titular journey
Whether or not you would personally enjoy it is solely up to you.
Try it. If you don't like it, then drop it.
Already 12 volumes in and I actually like it, despite the lack of character growth and the done-to-death character trope Fern falls into.
Characters are mature rather than having a one-note personality, or trope to drive their character. Frieren herself is made to be more mature and wise, but also emotionally numb from living for so long.
Theme wise, it is slow, but it's not really meant to be an action packed show. The entire show is more about coping with loss, learning to move on in life, and trying to see the positives through grim situations, and appreciate the simple things in life.
Few Anime will actually do this. It is a HUGE departure from, the status quo.
