"Conan:Exiles" reportedly has good multiplayer base-building.
"Seven Days to Die" is another, but it's also very focused on "survival base building" in order for the players to survive regular zombie horde attacks of increasing strength. (Haven't played, just watched quite a bit of it being streamed.)
"Minecraft" 'cause... It's Minecraft?
"Terraria" if you don't mind it's platformish presentation.
If you want a years long experience play at default single player setting lol. Thats what I play it on and after like 3 years I still ain't finished a playthrough of each map in a single solo playthrough.
But most people up rates. And use cheaty mods to make the game easier and faster like awesome spyglass and structures+
all excellent games, i second these, and they dont require a supercomputer to run, you can nerf the graphics down pretty hard on all of these, and get them to run on a smartfridge. should be fine.
The hard part of ark, is deciding which ark to play
The Island takes FOREVER and high level dinos hate spawning on that map
And of course.
More building than survival at this point.
As a vampire you'll build a castle or several. You can do this with friends or duke it out with them in PvP.
