Movies You Thought Were Good A Long Time Ago, But Actually Were Not
I know that's a very specific title, but I figure I'm not the only one who watched a movie, or played a game many years ago, only to return to it and find... Actually you know what? ... That movie kinda sucked.

One movie for me was a Halloween movie called "The Pumpkin Carver". Basically a slasher movie with bad effects, not great acting, not great plot. But for some reason I thought the movie was amazing. I might re-watch it anyway.

Got any movies like that? Maybe games too.

EDIT: Sorry. It's "Karver" spelled with a K.

Original Star Wars, now called episode 4.

It's like a great song that has been played over and over... then covered over and over... then politicized.
Star Wars has always been political

It literally has wars in its name

As a kid, watching Forrest Gump, I was rooting for Forrest and Jenny.

Now, I realized that Jenny was a horrible human being.

Think about how bad of a person Jenny was, then watch the ending again.

I mostly think of movies I had when I was a kid... I have good taste in movies.

Interesting. It was hard for me to separate her from The Princess Bride Jenny.

Forrest Gump

Because as a kid I didn't think about it, it just seemed a movie about a guy trying his best to win the love of his life.

But as an adult you realize that jenny was a really, really, bad person. And in the book I've read that she doesn't die of an illness and goes on to divorce/leave forrest.
"Wraith" thought that movie was fantastic as a kid :P
Years ago I remember shutting off Rambo movies. Good grief.

I would add many similar action movies from that genre and time.

She was an abused, broken, person. (It's pretty obvious her father abused her and sexual abuse is somewhat insinuated, though it may have been physical/emotional abuse.)

But, he still loved her "purely."

She didn't treat him right and if she left him in the book, then I'm glad that didn't make it to the movie. In the movie, she has a somewhat "happy" ending and the audience can assume she found some amount of healing from what time she had with Forest. Her motive was clear, but... maybe that choice didn't turn out so bad, after all? Forest got a son.

I think most adults knew what her motivations and problems were and that Forest's love for her was risky, if not actually misplaced.

Don't be silly. There's only one Rambo movie, and he died in the end.
Just about any movie tbh.
