It literally has wars in its name
Now, I realized that Jenny was a horrible human being.
Hm...
and forest gump was still a good movie.
Interesting. It was hard for me to separate her from The Princess Bride Jenny.
Because as a kid I didn't think about it, it just seemed a movie about a guy trying his best to win the love of his life.
But as an adult you realize that jenny was a really, really, bad person. And in the book I've read that she doesn't die of an illness and goes on to divorce/leave forrest.
I would add many similar action movies from that genre and time.
She was an abused, broken, person. (It's pretty obvious her father abused her and sexual abuse is somewhat insinuated, though it may have been physical/emotional abuse.)
But, he still loved her "purely."
She didn't treat him right and if she left him in the book, then I'm glad that didn't make it to the movie. In the movie, she has a somewhat "happy" ending and the audience can assume she found some amount of healing from what time she had with Forest. Her motive was clear, but... maybe that choice didn't turn out so bad, after all? Forest got a son.
I think most adults knew what her motivations and problems were and that Forest's love for her was risky, if not actually misplaced.
Don't be silly. There's only one Rambo movie, and he died in the end.
