Why Gen Z is Impossible to Get Along With
Why do Gen Z struggle so much with communication? I'm part of Gen Z and, TBH, I find it way harder to vibe with my own age group. It's like, way easier to chat with GenX. Most of my squad are legit in their 50s!

Was talking about this the other day with my Xennial wife.

On our block, all of the Zoomers (we count 6 that we know of), except the ones in one particular family, are totally unapproachable and don't acknowledge anyone's existence but their own (and I guess their close friends).

My next-door neighbors, a Zoomer couple, will just walk past you and not only say nothing, but somehow avoid making any eye contact at all.

I come from a time where it was considered not only polite but a benefit to at least be on speaking terms with your neighbor (safety reasons among them, because neighbors keep an eye on your property for you), but these Zoomers don't want any of that. I just hope none of them ever need my help, because at this point they're just strangers. Actually, they're worse than that, because I have healthy exchanges (even just a glance and a smile or nod) with strangers every day.

They're totally alienating themselves. If my neighbor came to my house right now and rang the doorbell, needing help, I legit might not even recognize him or his girlfriend, and might not even let them in on that basis. And if I did recognize them and they were pleading for help, I'd probably just be frozen in shock that they even know I exist, or just weirded out that suddenly they want to acknowledge me, let alone interact with me.

Now, the Zoomers (2 of them) in the family I mentioned, are exceptional. They remind me of my own generation or older, only in the bodies of Zoomers, and I'm sure that's because their parents are just great parents. The dad and mom are very sweet and considerate, but firm. You can tell they instilled discipline and common courtesy in her kids. I say all of that because I believe their parenting might have countered the default Zoomer mindset their kids would have otherwise had.

Anyway, I'm sad for them. They'll probably proclaim in their 40s and 50s to be lonely and not realize they themselves were the cause of it. Generally speaking, the majority of them definitely don't seem to be very self-aware.

Well, objectively speaking they have less friends compared to previous generations and that means less social skills.

Gen Z are impossible to have a joke or chat with because they get too easier offended.
oh, they get awfully touchy, don't they?

even when you merely mirror their own manner or give them a taste of their own medicine, it ruffles their feathers.

curious how its all well and good when they r the ones doing it, but if you follow suit, suddenly its a witch hunt and u r branded the odd one.

When I show my kids clips from british tv show's from the 70's/80's such as 'Benny Hill' and 'The carry on' series, they get really stocked. Don't even get me started on shows such as 'Mind your Language' or 'Til Death Us do Part'.... seriously, they couldn't believe what shows were like back in the day. In fact, I can't believe what was shown on tv back then and l lived through them times.

Well, objectively speaking they have less friends compared to previous generations and that means less social skills. Anecdotally, I find older people to be very chill and friendly. I remember first making friends with old folk at my college and they were the most outgoing people. Same at work. No shade at younger people for just wanting to get things done and do their own thing.
i'm guessing wherever you got that from did not account for online interpersonal bonds
