Trying to charge a Nokia Tough phone via my PC's USB, but it keeps disconnecting
I've Windows 10 installed on my desktop and so far I've tried turning off auto-play, I've also tried disabling the anti-virus, but every time I connect this phone via any USB port, any port, it connects for 3-4 seconds then disconnects in a loop. I'm not sure what I can do now as I didn't have this problem with other brands of feature phones, such as Doro. It's just weird.

I should say the phone charges fine if I put the computer into sleep mode, or power off, but not while fully on/awake.

Most woke stuff doesn't work.
I don't know if you have any (or know whether you have any) USB cables that will not pass data - some of them do carry electrical charge only. But if you do, the computer won't even see the device and thus any interfering "features" should be removed from the equation.

But in any case, a computer port is probably the least ideal way to charge a phone so you'd be better off with a wall outlet converter or similar.

You have to close down snake.
Do you have anything in the house that has a USB charger that plugs into the wall?

Hi all. To the last person, yes, I do have a wall charger. To the second person, I'm only using the USB cable that came with the phone, not another device's.

I just wanted to charge the phone by the computer while, using it, but it seems it'll have to be done when in sleep mode or a wall socket. Oh well.

The USB port should still provide power if the phone's USB cord is plugged in. Both USB 2 and 3 should always be powered during normal operation.

Is your laptop plugged in as well or are you running on its battery? If the latter, then it could be a power-saving feature that you're having issues with, so plug in your laptop.

Does your laptop show the plugged-in phone USB as a "device?" It shouldn't.

Hi there, it's a PC so no battery is involved, but I'll check the power saving settings anyway.

UPDATE: There's nothing in the power settings, just 'turn the monitor off after 20 mins' and never go into sleep mode.

Assumed you checked the phone options for usb

I noticed my phone wanted to fast charge last time I plugged it into the computer.. can you tell your phone to slow charge only to see if it might be a power issue?

If you have any drives plugged in or anything else running of USB other than input devices like mouse and keyboard. Do they use power for lights.

Just wondering if you may be seeing a power supply issue here by reducing the load.

I just have a keyboard and mouse using some USB ports, and as the phone isn't a smartphone there aren't any power options on it. It's just a feature phone from Nokia, with snake. The OS for the phone is something called 'KaiOS' I think.

Guess I would try google or Nokia forums if all else fails.
