UK Artists Cry "Geif Me Moneh"
https://www.theguardian.com/culture/article/2024/sep/08/levy-smartphones-creatives-ai-threat-uk-artists-labour

"More than 4,000 artists have called on the government to create a levy on smartphone sales to fund visual art in the face of cuts, studio closures and the rise of generative AI."

"A smart fund, the artists argue, could generate about £300m a year through a small levy on sales of smartphones, computers, tablets and other devices that can share creative content."

Pffff, kiss my ass.

Is there anything a Brit can't find a way to tax? I guess money laundering via 'modern art' is over for the tiny hats.

Apart from having a laugh i do wonder with regards to something you said whether you can tax a machine if it also sells its own wears and just so happens to give all its money away to one person.

Its so hard to feel compassion for yet another group of people who thought it couldn't possibly mean them.
what

There was this big convention where tech guys swore AI would be used for technical things and thus freeing up time for man to pursue the arts.
Considering the subjective nature of art and the ease at which AI could pick it up, how could it never possibly be one of the first roads AI would be put on.

Technology and the internet is being deliberately shaped at a pace people consistently think it will benefit them when infact its cognitively breaking down a species ability to form a solid consensus.

the tech bros are the ones still posting ai slop lmao
Creating art doesn't earn you money unless it becomes famous. Always wise to have another profession aside from art.
