RTS games with a good campaign
I've played a good few of 'em already, but I'd like to know if I missed some. Anyone got recommendations? Steam and GOG only, please.
I've played:

Every existing Command & Conquer except the mobile and unmentionable one
Dawn of War I and II
Age of Mythology
Age of Empires I and II
Company of Heroes
Total Annihilation
KKND
8- and 9-bit Armies
Warcraft II
Rise of Nations
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
Metal Fatigue

Closing note: Any game which doesn't have
1) Base building
2) Resource gathering
3) Unit production
in real time is not an RTS. Total War games are not RTS.

Nope, Vanilla SupCom. Aeon enemy gets endless T1 reinforcements before you complete the Black Box recovery. Once you do, they start getting T2 ships, which shell your base apart in a few volleys. And God forbid your ACU is not in some secluded corner, it's gone before the announcer finishes the "Commander under attack" sentence.

Edit: It's wave upon wave of 5-10 Frigates. And the radar reveals 2-3 Shipyards at most. My shipyards produce one Frigate each at most between waves.
Huh, odd. And you have enough resources for your shipyards? That part can be odd if you arent used to it - being in the red means everything builds slower.

Anyway if you aren't having fun you aren't having fun and I don't doubt your experience. Maybe patches messed it up or something, wouldn't be the first time - Command and Conquer 3 campaign is all messed up balance from post launch multiplayer changes and I think some other game was too but I forget.

I have the resources, 5 or 6 Mass extractors upgraded to T2, 3 T2 reactors. I am floating resources while producing from 3 Shipyards and 1 Air factory pumping out Torpedo bombers. But for every enemy wave destroyed, even with home field advantage, they just send another, roughly 10 Frigates, 15-20 subs and the occasional off-map bomber wave. Once the naval bombardment ships arrive though, they just ignore units and aim for production structures, which get blown up in 4 hits at most. There's not enough room for a 4th shipyard before the map fully expands. At least not properly defensible room.

The original Starcraft was good it was released free through some desktop gaming platform cant remember which.

You get the campaigns choice of races and skirmish modes.

It had atmosphere .

Finished the campaign years ago. Skirmish mode is not really fun, you always know more or less what to expect, as the AI always goes for an identical build order for each faction.

Custom the triggers etc but ok excuse me for answering.

I would've said StarCraft but it's not on either Steam, or gog lol.

How about home world 1 & 2?

I come back to this I know there more in my library for rts games.

Already played SC, forgot to list it. Homeworld is full 3D, looks fairly overwhelming to me. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Homeworld doesn't have base-building so it is disqualified according to your criteria.

But you would be missing out on good games, there.

Doesn't have base-building or rerouce gathering. The OP was very strict about his criteria.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed messing around in the Starcraft 1 Map Editor, even managed to whip up a few good custom maps back in the days. But took me like 10-12 hours to make per map. Not the time I have any more.

But you don't build a base during the mission. You upgrade your Mothership during he campaign giving you more unit build options. But you don't build a base each mission.

It's a nice extension/remake of old Total Annihilation but I prefer zero-k

The campaign isn't amazing but the game is pretty great, really like their design philosophy. They've released a series of posts on it but basically they're very anti-micro in the sense that controls should never interfere with strategy

"Fight your opponent, not the UI (user interface)"

carrier is equivalent to base or expand, you can build harvester from them

and i talking about pvp aspect, not the campaing
