While I'd not say that some of what I'm gonna list to be 'essential' per se, they do add to the fun of having a bada$$ PC system:
1. Good sound system, can be 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, even a soundbar
2. Good keyboard and mouse, while not necessarily form known brands like Logitech, a good mechanical keyboard and responsive mouse adds to the experience. I have a variety of wired KBs from Ducky, Filco, etc as well as wireless Logitech.
3. A good gamepad, while not 100% necessary, some games do feel better on a gamepad, like an 8BitDO Ultimate 2.4
4. Comfortable chair with lumbar, neck and head support, adjustable height and back
5. In addition to a good speaker system, a good pair of headphones, NOT headsets, for for times when you don't wish to bother others around you, and for greater immersion in a game. I'd recommend a decent DAC combo that can power your headphone easily, with high res audio codec support.
6. Obviously, a desk that is big enough to put your monitor + keyboard + mouse + Mousepad + DAC + etc. IF the desk can be adjusted height-wise, all the better as we have different built, and different heights.
7. Not necessary, but Ambient LED lighting that generally respond to what is shown onscreen would be a nice bonus. I have such a setup stuck on the back of my monitor, it adds a little more immersion as, for example, my game has a large explosion, yellow and orange light would light up on the back of my monitor, bouncing off the wall, giving the onscreen explosion more impact and ,,,,dare I say it again? Immersion!

The most important thing is good lighting and atmosphere. The next being a reliable mouse-pad. Finally, an ethernet cable.

but why are you saying that here
that does not relate to the question or the discussion as no one is saying that uwu
Ok, fine.

Get an Xbox controller for your PC. It's way more comfortable than using a mouse+keyboard for anything that doesn't need you to.

No it's not. That has no impact on how your PC runs or how you perform. Unless you're bad anyway, then ooo pretty lights might stop you from becoming a caveman when you lose.

I mean it more literally than that. It's hard to play Siege with the vacuum running, and Resident Evil, even on the highest gamma setting, is impossible to play if the sun is shining on my screen.

Most games don't require skill.
Don't get to worked up about it.

I agree with all those things. Atmosphere and comfort are paramount.

Oh, I see what you're saying now. I thought you meant something like neon lights everywhere.

Empty bottle stashed underneath the chair for easy bathroom access

Having a desk with the keyboard tray at just the right elevation (and wide enough to accommodate a wrist-padded mousepad next to the keyboard), and a decent office chair with fully adjustable arm rests that you can raise, lower, rotate and slide forward and back.

And also, the desk should have a rounded edge so you can lean back in the chair and put your feet up when using a controller, and the edge of the desk doesn't dig into your ankles.

Speaking of desks, every good desk needs a power and USB hub grommet.

If the bloody Resolute Desk doesn't have a grommet, it's automatically a ♥♥♥♥ desk.
