Nothing is strictly needed, you work with what you got or can afford. Won`t make you a worse gamer not having all the shiny accessories or the most powerful PC.

missed the question uwu

Get a good Chair. Do not get those Gaming Chairs, they are overpriced garbage that offer no back support.
Get a good Office Chair. They are designed for people sitting long times and support the back.
I agree! I was going to say something like that. I have an office chair that is secondhand from my father (nothing wrong with it he just got a new one) and it's very comfortable compared to anything I've sat on

I still have that chair I used since primary

Is ergonómico, but is quite old, I am surprised it still did not break 🤔

Me personally, I think everybody should have a useable controller, regardless of whether you’re playing on console or PC.

I know there are those PC snobs who think they’re “too good” to use a controller, or the ones that believe that you’re supposed to use keyboard and mouse just because “you’re on PC, so that what you do”. But unless you’re extremely picky in your genre preferences, there will come a point where you’ll find some games that you will find more enjoyable / comfortable to play on an alternative device.

I think people can often underestimate how much a choice of control scheme can impact the way you perceive a game. And there is absolutely no logical reason to intentionally restrict yourself to one, singular method.

Essential and recommend are mutually exclusive terms. Anything essential is required. One might even argue that it is not a term that can be applied to games of any variety, but insofar as video games go:

  • The video display
  • The game itself
  • Some method of control that enables you to play the game.

A high quality monitor. Doesnt matter if you have a 4090, if your monitor is no good your 4090 might aswell be an igpu. You see everything thru your monitor so make it a good one.

Not entirely true. First, higher framerates translate into more frequently updated game states even if you can't see the frames. This leads to more analogous input.

More importantly though you can get rather cheap high refresh rate monitors these days. Newegg has this 180hz Acer Nitro on sale for just $90[www.newegg.com], and an alternative listing for a different one.

Even at just 1080p it's quite hard to push 180 F.P.S. on the higher settings. A 4090 paired with a 7800x3D will only output 175 F.P.S. 135 in Hogwarts Legacy for example.[www.techspot.com]

Granted, I don't understand why you'd spend $1700 on a graphics card and $400 on a processor only to buy a $90 monitor ($150 full price). You're probably going to keep your monitor longer than your graphics card so it'd be wiser to just buy a 4080 super and buy an $800 monitor, but you can take full advantage of the best graphics cards on a cheap monitor.

What's wrong with people that they can't eat without getting everything dirty?

It is kinda hard to play with your hands full of food or eat with your hands on the mouse and keyboard, and you're not getting up just to wash your hands so if you are eating snack foods with your hand, it it carries over food residue like cheeto/dorito dust. Unless you eat something like a banana or bother to get up to wash your hands in the middle of a boss fight.

The keyboard and mouse need to consider the possibility they might get gunked up. Yes, there is a chance. But what happens when you want to both eat and play at the same time? What do you do? Do you go for it?

It makes more sense to eat first, then play to free up your hands and minimize distractions. 'O course snacking can help make the loading times tolerable, so you win some, you lose some.

A non-Microsoft controller.

A good PC controller needs to support both xinput and directinput, and have good mapping software that allows mapping to keystrokes as well as autofire and macros.

Things I do not have and have no interest in obtaining:
An overly expensive "gaming" mouse.
An overly expensive "gaming" keyboard.
An overly expensive headset. (Speakers master race.)
A second monitor.
RGB lighting.
An overwhelming sense of desire to throw my money at greedy companies making substandard products to take advantage of the word "gaming" that couldn't care less about you or your hobby.

Things I do have:
More skill than most other gamers, despite not having the "trendy" paraphernalia.
