Why don't they fly to the Moon anymore?
Considering it's Space Exploration Fest I remember those days when it was so prestigious to be an astronaut. But they don't even fly to the Moon anymore... Why? Did they encounter hostile life form there? When are we going to Mars? 😏

Because Cave Johnson got sick from moon rocks, and Aperture no longer exists to allow us to mine moon rocks to create more portal guns. Plus, "rockets are expensive!"

I think it will be harder to start life on Mars than to fix the issues we have on Earth.

Even if we did manage to populate Mars and colonize it we will just fight with each other again because “I want this! I want that!”.

When the meteor responsible for the KT extinction hit, the air temperature on Earth across the planet was enough to kill all living things exposed to it. Oceans boiled, every forest was simultaneously set on fire and burned to ash. Only things able to hide from it either underground or underwater were able to survive it. While humans would no doubt survive that, we can build things to outlast the harshest effects, we already have such shelters, it's also not the largest. We've been hit by rocks twice that size and even objects that turned the entire surface of our planet into magma. Another vehicle isn't a bad idea.

You should consider the Younger Dryas Impact Theory. Makes sense from a number of different angles. At the very least we know asteroids have been striking the Earth for some time now.

Artemis 1 went to the moon last year.

Good point. Successful too. Artemis 2 is scheduled for 2025.

This one only covers some of the astronomy possibilities from there.

The other most glaring reason to go there is we need the helium3.

I don't think they have a reason to fly there again.
And if they have a reason, they can hardly afford making such trips all the time over other project they, probably, want to do more.

Groovy tune. Let's get the Frank out too to set the mood for when we were last on the moon:

Okay. Let’s say they do wanna go to the moon.

Boop! They’re on the moon. Now what? It’s just a waste of money now.

According to Smithsonian Air and Space magazine, the moon project was to put a permanent missile base on the moon, but was cancelled once the treaty to de-militarize space, including the moon, was signed with the Soviet Union.

A lot of people then and now thought the Apollo missions were just purely for exploration and science. Not so. It was to establish and hold the ultimate high ground in case the Soviets tried something.

But the cost would have been enormous, even by today's standards. And so signing a treaty saved the nation hundreds of billions in 1970's dollars.

So many excuses why we can't go to the moon. The worst are:
- NASA lost the technology we once had to go to the moon.
- There's too much radiation!
- We don't have the money.

Just shows the USA never went to begin with.
