That's actually pretty normal, "I" played Sui Black.
I just wasn't old enough to play during Urza Block.
I don't care that he played Sui Black, I care that he played during Urza Block. Lol.
Urza Block is literally known for game breaking stuff.
I just, can't justify it in modernity though.
I started during Invasion and Odyssey, and quit after Mirrodin.
Tbh, it's just too expensive to try to keep up with as an adult.
But between AD&D and M:tG, that's kind of where the basis for my love for RPG mechanics came from.
I have memories of being with my older cousins when I was 7 years old, with them teaching me AD&D and me throwing dice and them explaining rules of the game to me, etc.
I got into M:tG when I was 9 years old.
I'm 36 now, so I have a very specific memory of this as a Milennial:
Everybody else in class had Pokemon decks.
I had a reanimator zombie deck for Magic: the Gahtering that was (admittedly) badly built and spliced with a red burn deck. But I mean, I was 9 years old, sssooo yeah. Lol.
I was also reading The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring at the age of 9 - 11 as well.
See this is the kind of stuff that like, kids these days don't really have.
There's no, like, epic classical fantasy like this sort of a thing anymore.
And the old Forgotten Realms and what was considered "dark fantasy" is also something that isn't really around anymore, save for like, Diablo and Diablo II, and idk, Dragon Age: Origins?? And even those games are pretty all dated now.
And I think the kiddos go for those Marvel movies instead of books or learning musical instruments(other than a soundboard, mixer and autotune)
Seriously, Timmy is sitting on a gaming chair, a bottle of Mountain Dew on the desk and wearing gaming headphones.
Him and AOC were playing Crazy Taxi. . . .
