How much RGB is too much?
I am building a pc from old parts but powering the fps with RGB (naturally) and people tell me it burns their eyes. How much rgb is too much in your opinion?

i think it is up to personal preference, but i also think the real trick to RGB is to treat it as actual light sources with conscious effort put into the lighting design of them.

so instead of leaving them on default "rainbow swirl" you could (or should even, imo) set them to specific colors or ranges of colors with more subtle shifts, or even static color schemes, to blend into the overall interior design of the room it all sits in.

maybe you have green design elements in the room, so you set the keyboard to green as well.
or set it to a complementary color as an accent.
and so on.

google "rgb computer setup" and pick a level of extent that appeals to you, and then imagine whatever is in the photo is static (or semi-static) instead of a snapshot of a rainbow swirl.
you can tag something like "minimalistic" to the end of the search string to get some further ideas.

also keep in mind that lighting design needs not end at what can be plugged into and/or controlled by a computer.
things like LED light strips and such also exist and can be incorporated into the overall design of the room. you can put light strips behind some shelves, under a table, under a bed, etc.

i think at least M+KB not only could, but actually should be backlit since it just looks nice when done right, and makes typing in the dark a much more pleasant experience no matter your typing proficiency.
beyond that its all personal preference.

Any RGB is too much for me.
Just change it to one colour.

10% and use cool color
one color is enough instead of some rainbow vomit

A keyboard if you need the visibility and perhaps one dimly lit on the case fan for the same reason.
The more RGB things you have - the easier to become a cybersportsman.

I used to have blue case fans and a backlit keyboard, but these days I would say anything above 0 RGB is too much. Totally silent and even blinking activity lights are annoying.

lol mine looks like a rave party in my neighbours back garden 2 doors away. They moved out today after making multiple complaints about it.

Blinking lights are too much. Mine is set to go blue to green to yellow to red as the CPU heats up.

personally, I like RGB on my keyboard so that I can see the keys in the dark, and mouse is ok, but I don't like RGB on my desktop case. My motherboard does have some orange looking accents in certain spots, but it's not really enough to bother me. My desktop case doesn't have a side panel window so I can barely see it anyway. I prefer to not have my room totally lit up like a christmas tree just because my computer is on. That said, that's just my opinion, so make your's with as much or as little RGB as you want it to have.

I second RGB on mouse/keyboard. It's only useful on PC if you have multiple profiles set up and you want to tell them apart without looking at any settings.

That being said: RGB on PC is a genuine waste of money (or a luxury purchase, at best), as mines are turned off by default.

PS: It also contributes additional heat and generates more electricity which is counter-productive, as minuscule as it is.
