I hate anime without a dub
Why is subs so popular? I absolutely despise watching anime without an english dub.

Because original voice acting is always better than dub.
Especially Anime.

That's fine. You enjoy it the way you want.

Some people believe that sometimes there's a certain quality that's lost in the localization and redubbing to English. The delivery of lines just isn't the same, or the Japanese VA brings a certain emotional delivery that the English speaking VA does not. You can still pick up on this with the original voices and subtitles, even though you don't understand the words.

I get why some people prefer dubs though. It's easier to enjoy the art and animation if you're not staring at the bottom of the screen all the time reading subs.
I'd argue it's the opposite, by having to read the captions you don't experience the anime to the same quality as if you watched a dub. You're more drawn into the story.

So ya basically your last sentence.

I have not but I’ll check it out
Not saying you should hate it, or even dislike it. Generally, the sentiment usually stems from English or other language voice actors not sounding invested enough, as if they were reading a text. Japanese voice actors are genuinely acting out the emotions and they make the characters sound quite expressive. That's the reason why people often prefer subs over dubs.

Hands down the most impactful anime ever. It got gore and ♥♥♥♥, but the biggest strength is the psychological horror it gives you. It's not easy to give me feels, and lasting ones at that, but that anime managed it. You're in for a blast.
Western voice actors ruin our shows with their voice that do not even fit but that is just my opinion

Because you're a native japanese speaker, of course you'll prefer your original dub. For english speakers it's much different.

It had the flow and proper sounding. Tomokazu Sugita sounds better as Gintoki Sakata than the English VAs do. He inspired me to do voice acting and he's my all-time favorite Japanese VA.

I grew up when bad english dubs were the norm (ex: 4kids) so I shifted over to the subbed to get a more immersed experience.

Dubs are a lot better now though so I find myself watching some anime in dubs over subs. One of my favorite dubs atm is probably the Konosuba dub.

Animations are based on recordings of the voice artists so any dub is just not going to be as good. There was one time it was better, though, the American actress who dubbed Revy in Black Lagoon was just made for the part.
