I’m referring to that feeling of being indifferent to happiness or sadness. I don’t know what it’s called, but I assume that I’m not the only one who feels the same.

ambivalence is the best word for that, imho.
I'm also dysthymic which I think is an interesting looking word.
My cat is more along the lines of ennui.
And so many people today are apathetic, although that doesn't matter to me.
