What is a good horde mode game?

I am at a loss atm because I can't find a game that shoves tons of enemies at me (and friends if there is co-op) while being able to use cover effectively (not just crouch behind something but being able to blind fire like in splinter cell blacklist).

I would prefer an fps but heck even a hack and slash would be good at this point as long as it has co-op.

OH and ragdolling would also be prefered rather than death animations

games i've tried but didnt like so much:
Payday 1+2
warframe
all the gears of war games (not even sure if they are on pc, didnt bother checking)
left4dead 1+2
ORION: Dino Horde
Orcs Must Die 2
Killing Floor
MW3 Survival mode (one of my favorites as you only protect yourself and partner from tons of enemies using great guns and my favorite, the sentry gun)
and others that seem to have skipped my mind atm

Serious Sam has one of the best coop ever made.
I think we all know that r3tarded game called Borderlands. The devs admitted they were ''inspired'' from Serious Sam. Actually, they copy-pasted many good things from SS, but completely f***ed up with the most horrible and ipocrite characters ever created in the history of video games (only thinking at the idiot robot makes me mad).
So for the coop, I highly recommend SS. It can give you up to 200 enemies on screen. At once. But there is no cover.

Wow SS:BFE looks rediculously badass! $40 is a bit much bit its going on my wishlist and the first sale that comes im picking that up! It even has local co-op which is fantastic!

Glad you like. I was playing a lot of Serious Sam 2. ANY SS game has co-op and thousands of monsters per level. And bosses... damn, memorable bosses, man!
If you want to get the first 2 SS games (The First Encounter and The Second Encounter), I recommend buying Serious Sam Classics: Revolution. It has them both, it has new server host for more accuracy, it has the old ''splitscreen'' + a new campaign. Definitely worth it.

A few horde games I enjoy. I've never played Deep Rock Galactic but the class system looks cool to me. Warhammer can get very hard on the more challenging difficulties. Mordhau is a very funny game with hard controls but even if you're bad its still fun to scream into battle. Both warhammer and mordhau are melee games and use ragdolls
