Do Pokémon have blood groups?
There is egg groups, but what about blood groups 🤔

Humans have 4 blood groups, would Pokémon have the same blood groups as humans or would they have different blood groups?

Or just no blood at all...

No blood.

If a Krookodile, a literal 5 foot STONE CROCODILE uses crunch on a little mouse, the mouse would never bleed.

Maybe pokemon just do not bleed 🤔

Well they faint, but Steel types definitely don't bleed 😅

If they don't die after getting hit with Hyper Beam they probably don't bleed.

They might bleed in the manga. They definitely don't in the games/anime due to demographics.

I think it depends on the pokemon, like most species that would be classified as mammals here would have blood types, while invertebrates would not have blood types, just like real life.

Looking at the Bulbapedia article for Golbat a few of the pokedex entries reference blood.[bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net]

Japanese Red/Green (translated into English with Fire Red):

It clamps down on its prey with needle-sharp fangs and drains over 10 ounces of blood in one gulp.

Yellow

It attacks in a stealthy manner, without warning. Its sharp fangs are used to bite and suck blood.

Stadium

Bites its prey and feeds on the victim's energy. Its own blood type changes to that of its victim.

Gold

However hard its victim's hide may be, it punctures with sharp fangs and gorges itself with blood.

Silver

It can drink more than 10 ounces of blood at once. If it has too much, it gets heavy and flies clumsily.

Crystal

When it plunges its fangs into its prey, it instantly draws and gulps down more than ten ounces of blood.

Let's skip to diamond since many of these entries are similar, and the diamond entry establishes that both humans and pokemon have blood and it preys upon both:

It loves the blood of humans and Pokémon. It flies around at night in search of neck veins.

It's a pretty obvious place to be looking for this sorta stuff since Golbat is obviously inspired by vampire bats.

The Stadium entry is the most relevant since for Golbat's blood type to change, that indicates that it has blood and that blood is of a certain type to change to another type, and that Golbat somehow doesn't die from rejecting all of its own blood and/or organs.

It'd also be pretty weird for Golbat to develop a blood type changing mechanism if its prominent prey didn't have blood types in the first place.

Since it preys upon humans as well as pokemon, I assume that Pokemon and Human blood types must be pretty similar.

Also worthy of note is that keeping in mind that the Gold pokedex entry indicates that it can pierce even the hardest hides, and its often found in caves alongside rock type Pokemon, I'm guessing it primarily preys upon Geodude. It can literally squeeze blood out of a stone...

Well, Life Orb could count I guess...

The item makes you lose 10% of your HP 🤔

Blood groups sound weird. Everyone I know just uses blood types instead (which are basically blood groups with positive or negative). Maybe it varies from country to country? Like it's a cultural thing to default to blood groups instead of blood types over in Spain? Cause in Canada I always see people talk about blood types instead of groups.
