As for Buddhism, it can be taken as either a religion like it is in Thailand, and Cambodia (both at 98-99% Buddhist) or as a philosophy in the West. If you went back 2000 years, and you were placed with other Christians from that time period, you would not recognize those people as Christians. Early Christianity was nothing like it is today. Back then, many early Christians did not believe that Jesus was actually God. And many, did not believe in the Trinity. That was made up many years after the passing of Jesus. In fact, there are Christians today who don't believe in the Trinity.
