Now the question is this...

Do you cowboys believe that OT truly is the Wild West the senator makes it out to be?

Is OT really this lawless land of sheriffs, criminal activity, outlaws, saloons, horses, revolvers?

No.

Not really, no. It all depends on how one looks at it. Certain people do pack weapons and some try to use those against others, though.

However - The effect of outside state-sponsored actors is evidenced here on OT and elsewhere. So, he's right about that at least. (Note: I looked into some of the things he's championed in the past and, to be honest, I think quite a bit of what he's proposed is pretty decent. So, I'm on the fence about the guy, overall. I think he's overstating things about Valve to get traction for something else, though, like the AI product that supposedly detect such things.)

The issue there is that neither he nor the study was focusing on Off-Topic. Not even a little bit... What they were "studying" were user-pages/groups in effect and, perhaps, the occasional outrageous post that had yet to be reported. Since it's unlikely group-members report their own and most people don't really care or know what someone uses on their user-page, the impact and effect he was trying to drive home is minimal at best.
