What I hate most about Christmas

Well not just this hijacked former Pagan holiday, but religious holidays in general, is this attitude in general from other people and coworkers:

You are allowed to be penniless for Christmas
You are allowed to be cold for Christmas
You are allowed to be heartbroken for Christmas
You are allowed to be friendless for Christmas
You are allowed to be divorced for Christmas
You are allowed to be homeless for Christmas
You are allowed to be bereaved for Christmas

But God forbid you hate Christmas. If you hate it, you are evil, you are Scrooge, you are the devil, you leave negative reviews for bad games on Steam.

You are not allowed to hate, even when you have good reasons to hate

I say a society that laughs with you, and leaves you to cry all alone, is a doomed vile society unworthy to exist that has set itself deliberately on a downward spiral, and expects you to cheer it onto its destruction as a willing participant. To hell with that excuse of a society and its egocentric populous.

If I want to be unhappy because the s**t in my life and the s**t of everyone else's lives, vastly outweighs the bad, then let me.

Yeah this.
Nobody cares if you hate Christmas, they care if you whine and moan about Christmas. Because when you do so you ultimately just come off as a contrarian who is trying to drag other people down.

Hard to explain. I used to hate Christmas with a passion, for all the usual reasons. Then about six years ago, I walked into a Wall Mart in early December. The trees and usual junk were everywhere, and a truly terrible "holiday song" was playing over the PA.
And suddenly, I just didn't care. In the slightest. Something in my attitude just changed I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I used to love hating it and debating it with others. But like so many other senseless and even damaging behaviors society chooses to engage in, it's less stressful to simply ignore it.

Have you tried going to a church for Christmas? Christmas really only works within that context. Otherwise, you might as well complain that every day in a third-world country includes the possibilities listed. Th\hat's not a unique reason to hate Christmas, it's just stuff that sucks outside of Christmas.

You're an atheist, right? Or at least anti-Christian? Well, uh , what did you expect? A socialist paradise? Everyone just gives each other everything all the time? The whole point is Christianity, which you have to adopt to be touched by in the first place. It doesn't work if you just try to take advantage of it.

One who is 'pagan' could argue that it takes a horrible person to counterfeit the sacred festivals of seasons while they know they are doing it.

First, being penniless, cold, heartbroken, friendless, divorced homeless and/or bereaved likely aren't the fault of the holiday, so those really aren't good reasons to hate it. If you do, you are just being resentful because other people are having a good time when you're not, which although perhaps understandable, is far from admirable.

Second, you forgot Mr. Grinch in your list of villains. If you don't like Christmas so much, why don't you steal it?
