There was a coop game about "escape the room" called we were here, which has a couple of games of similar topic if i'm not mistaken.
Edit found it:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/582500/We_Were_Here/
It doesn't particularly matter what kind of a theme the novel has, whether it's yuri or some mysterious detective doesn't and shouldn't matter.
Other than that, do make sure to set the default language on your phone, computer, (...) to English instead of to your native one in case English isn't your native.
That helps a ton, but is very uncomfortable at first.. For the first few months, at least, sometimes for even longer.
Regarding being, eh.. less dumb although I hate using such words, being doubtful about almost everything that crosses your mind helps a ton, but mighta make you appear very untrustworthy and not worth to approach as a result.
It does also depend on your own perception of the term itself, including the expectations you're setting up for yourself.
If you ask me, you're a very intelligent person, so I don't think that this is something to worry about and seek some major improvement like that.. If necessary, it shall come to you naturally, or so I'd believe.
Just to clarify, what I mean with the term visual novel are the usual text based 2D videogames - Flowers, Steins;Gate, (...) and definitely not the JRPG „visual novels“ that are somehow tagged as such.

(For some reason, you have to accept the Golden Axe: Beast Rider EULA for it.)
Learning facts and learning how to learn are two different things. :)
In order to be able to rely on one's muscles, one needs to strengthen those muscles. Get stronk...
https://store.steampowered.com/developer/zachtronics
Zachtronics has some really good games that help you build on simple mechanics to get to the point where you're manipulating more complex ones that use that previous knowledge.

KSP = Learn the mechanics of flight/spaceflight. It's not as easy as it sounds... /s :)

JPP has games based on trivia/factoids, which may be interesting.
Yes, the above games go a bit against what you're requesting. But, what you're requesting sounds very much like... "School, but more funnerer." :)
How about... this:

Try some of those out. Do you feel engaged and interested while exploring them?
What about some simple concepts: https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/menu/play/games/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/544550/Stationeers/
Stationeers is a bit more cerebral when it comes down to space-survival sorts of games. There's a lot of brainwork required.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/427520/Factorio/
More brainwork in Factorio than some may think... The point being that you have to create, manage, and incorporate many different sorts of processes and materials to then build them into even more complex things. Juggling those bits of information and learning how to usefully remember them is an important process.
And, let's talk about that, briefly: Take a look at "Stationeers." You may be prone to distraction and find it hard to stay focused on something, easily preferring to let your concentration flow on to something that feels a bit more appealing to engage with. In normal life, just going on about your daily tasks, you can probably manage "O.K.'ish." (Though, that's relative.) In Stationeers, you may need to remember that you let all the atmosphere out of your habitat and taking your helmet off in there will be extremely dangerous for your character's health...
Training your brain "how" to develop ways to take a thing you need to remember and hold onto it is the goal, not what it is you're specifically trying to remember. So, learning that Carbon has four valences isn't as important as learning that "elements have valences and those generally dictate the number of bonds they can form."

What do you need to know about the "Periodic Table" that you can't know by looking at a chart of the Periodic Table? :) Do you know "how" to interpret Mendelev's <sp> Periodic Table?

Interested in programming of teh stuffs?
https://brilliant.org <- I don't really know much about it. It's a sponsor of a lot of gaming youtubers, though. Maybe you should take a look?

I appreciate the kind words. I was mostly being facetious. OuO
i envy
Oh yes, I do that! I read a new word, come up with the wrong definition by accident, and then remember the wrong definition instead because I guessed it wrong!
i joke
Everything always feels so low that I don't feel like I still make any. I suppose that's why I need a detox, aye?
Oh gosh, is going outside so underrated now that you presume I don't know how to camp? D: The sadness! I used to camp all the time as a kiddo. You wanna come along wif me? I was apart of the last grass-touching generation.
I've heard of that one. Not sure why I never picked it up. Perhaps because I wasn't ready to hear it.
Have a lovely day, Dae. =^^=
*Hugs.* Thank you, Shiroro.
In such a case, visual novels may be far less ideal, too big bites to take at once and you mighta find yourself being unable to keep up with the story and the events that lead to it.
- Another fact is, I have next to no clue how does ADHD work.
I could browse the internet on a daily basis, but I do believe that each person with ADHD struggles with it rather differently and thus has different methods to deal with it.
Therefore, if we're talking about seeking the story and character development in visual novels, that's not gonna be a good idea. Yes, and that basically discards my suggestion more or less entirely.
What's to be mentioned is that what you shall be seeking are the other ways to improve at the desired language, which is.. Among the many possibilities, participating and reading things in English, including the participation in OT.
- Right, that doesn't necessarily make my previous suggestion all that unworthy, but will prove to be challenging in case you'd be focusing on the story and not on the English language, the phrases appearing in the novel, the text that you read.
I must admit my defeat here, as I honestly don't know what to do with ADHD.
You're on your own here, otherwise could probably listen to the other replies in the thread, as people will likely have a better idea of the workarounds to deal with it efficiently, while I don't have and haven't had any.
Uh huh, yes.
Gimme your Discord and I'll update you.
I think I'd rather die than play this one.
It's usually ex-bf, honry, food, want pet kitty, or relative philosophy.
He/She's informative, insightful, and clairvoyant!

No
I will do anything you say.
Yuh, I wanna know things 'n stuffs. Programming is one of my thousand interests! I wanna make an app, but first.....second, and third...
I obey only you.
FREE!?!?
Y-you're so useful to me...
Joking and subbing aside, thank you for all of these suggestions. I will be dabbling. I love you more than your mom.
Before I became addicted to boys, I was an avid manga reader. I've read several series, although not all to completion. I think it was easier for me to absorb manga because the studying of the pictures in addition to the text enticed my full, undivided attention that it could not wander in directions of intrusive thoughts.
Visual novels probably wouldn't be too bad, but I still have to really want it to maintain my devotion. I need a shiny array of buttons.
I'm on page 300 of The City of Brass and I can't get myself to lie in my bed to finish him off. Phooey.
