handheld gaming pc vs smartphone
I have saved up $2000 nzd and was going to buy a Samsung s24 ultra I currently have a an s21 non ultra i use for gaming and searching the web when I cannot be bothered using my gaming pc . I don't care about the camera just the performance and I just learnt about handhelds and was wondering if buying an Asus rog ally x and something like a Samsung a55 might be better than just the s24 ultra.

I don't think any of that is a good investment.

That depends on which game you want to play.

If you play mobile games that available on app store, a good phone might be better.
But if you mainly play pc games on steam or gog, go with handheld pc.

I like both but my largest concern would be would I enjoy playing pc games that I normally play with mouse and keyboard using thumb sticks instead. But I probably equally if not more dislike smartphone controls.

Phones are not good platforms for gaming, except for the most mind-melting casual fare. Even if you get a controller with a mounting clip, it's unwieldy.
