Also he netted about 23%, which hardly makes him a clear favourite for the second round, considering that the 2 runner ups also had about 20% each and those voters will probably not vote for him in the second round.

Since NATO has no intention to attack Russia at all, even less through the Black Sea, Romanias strategic position is primarily relevant for logistics and missile defense systems. If it was necessary, Finland and the Baltics would be sufficient to curb-stomp St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, but this is simply rhetorical, because NATO does not have any incentive or intention to attack Russia.

The real winner here is the average Romanian citizen.

Both the governing parties, PSD and PNL have been ridden with corruption since 20 years ago and their candidates had the audacity to NOT PARTICIPATE in the elections debate.

This was a mockery against the average citizen and the price they paid was accrued in lost votes.

Also, the PSD candidate, just 2 weeks before the elections, said something like: "only unskilled and lazy people left Romania to work in Eu or other countries". Guess that's a bad thing to say.

And Mr. Generalissimo Ciuca was promoting himself by walking in Bucharest, alongside the Mayor of Bucharest, the genius Dicusor Nan, discussing how they're gonna turn Bucharest into a carbon copy of ww2 Berlin city. Guess that was kinda bad, too.

So, overall, the vote was cast not for SOMEONE, but against those who ruined our country.
