[POETRY] "ZOMBIE"

I merged genres I don't think anyone else has merged yet- alternative hip hop, electronic, rock, punk, indie, big band... It sounds unique. Like someone mixed the CP2077 soundtrack with Tank!!

Y'all should give it a listen. Anyone else merge genres?

I’m alive, but I ain’t living
Clock’s ticking, but who’s winning?
Yeah, let’s go

Wake up, rinse, repeat- I’m the walking deceased
Face to the grind, got my skin stuck to the beast
Swallowed by cubicles, coffin-shaped usuals
Chasing a dream so delusional- funerals
Coffee as black as my thoughts, tied in a knot
Nine to five’s a guillotine, head on the block
Emails and voicemails, each ping’s a landmine
A puppet on strings, I’m just choking on deadlines
The rent’s late, the fridge dead, my girl left, I misled
Swipe right, swipe left- love’s now a sick bet
“Keep your chin up,” they chirp, but my neck hurts;
Gravity’s a ♥♥♥♥♥, pulling hope into fresh dirt

I’m a zombie, draggin’ my feet
No heartbeat, just stuck on repeat
I’m a corpse in a suit, the noose is my tie
Dead to the world but too scared to die
(Yeah!) Zombie, just filling my grave
Every step I take’s another soul enslaved

Smile for the boss, teeth sharp like a prison fence
Paycheck’s a carrot, but none of it makes sense
Stress is a mistress, she’s licking my wounds
Got me spinning in circles like devil’s cartoons
Corporate cannibals feast on my backbone
Gristle and fat in a glass-house black hole
They call it ambition, I call it perdition;
Sold off my time for a dime- it’s religion
Highways like veins on a corpse gone to rot
Gas station lunches, I’m drowning in thoughts
Bills stack like Jenga, one move, and I’ll cave
So I’ll light a match- let it burn in the blaze

I’m a zombie, draggin’ my feet

Every day’s a masquerade, parade of the damned
I paint my face with compliance, blood on my hands
I sold my soul for an office of lies
But even zombies know how it feels to cry
So here I stand, half-dead but awake
A cog in a system I didn’t choose to make
If living is dying, I’ve mastered the art-
I’m a zombie, but at least I’ve still got a heart
