The difference is everyone today is trying to pander to this new woke religion and it's completely noticeable. Maybe if less companies were forcing woke into media it wouldn't be criticized (looking at Disney and Ubisoft).

I disagree. I see no difference between the Dorian scene from 2014 and the nonbinary scene from 2024.

It's much earlier than that, try 2008-2011. 2014 is right in the beginning of woke and DEI.

The question in the OP is biased. Because someone could easily say that women are "regular" people, and hey guess what, it's the "anti-woke" movement that is taking systemic action to remove women's rights.

If you want to talk about treatment of other people, on a more broader level, the rights and freedoms that are guaranteed to them in the society are at the forefront of that discussion. And if you pretend it's not, you are being dishonest on purpose.
