Australian Government is going to ban Youtube and Online Gaming for Under 16s

This goes hand in hand with a misinformation bill they are trying to pass through the senate.

The Australian Government are trying to basically ban under 16s from any thing social from the internet including online games, you tube, social media platforms, even roblox, reddit and discord.
The only way to enforce this is requiring everyone to prove who they are with their real world identity.
They are also trying to stop VPNs as well from circumventing this.

It's not about kids, its about introducing a digital id they can link to your real world identity so if you post something critical about the current government they can track and fine or arrest you.

It is entirely a parents responsibility to control their kids social media and gaming, not the governments.

This is bad for every single person in Australia, left or right, young or old.

Its likely going to take international outrage to stop this.

Why didn't you just use a fake one if you're so concerned about privacy? Which you no longer have because you gave your address.

Because I voluntarily gave up that information in order to buy video games.

For all they know Mr. Atom lives at that address. They don't know my actual name, and they aren't the government and/or have no incentive to find out who I really am.

As long as my money is good and I'm not scamming people/doing extremely illegal stuff on their platform, they don't give a damn if Mr. Farty McFartHead lives at that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ address for all they know.

there's a statistical increase in <banned idea> following such measures.

traditionally the australian government has planned for such things with their usual "I don't care lick my jackboots" aplomb.

iirc, during the timeline when I lived there, they back down. england is exerting pressure to try and intimidate china to back down on its 1hr policy, and australia is trying to convince them this will not work and is a bad idea. it's considered a black timeline marker for it to go through and happen, but as long as it's undone relatively soon afterwards (i'd rather not say how soon they have tried to brinksman it and it goes badly) there are relatively few consequences. the people inconvenienced are given disbursements to tidy up their sim-room, in typical callous fashion.

if it isn't it's an early mark of impending total doom. the uh, specific thing australia does basically can't recover from depriving these early childhood experiences.

most of the time the hail mary on a bad go is china altering the policy and australia managing to alter theirs in kind.

Even God himself doesn't want to control his creatures like those governments do DESPITE CREATING THEM. So, what did government do, to get the RIGHT to control even the miniscule details of the citizens living there?

It is up to us the citizens to overthrow these kind of governments and send them to the depths of burning Hells.

they want something so dumb so desperately that it becomes faster to just let them figure out how stupid their desire really is.

if they don't figure it out once they get in, then yeah. that's not the sort of person society withstands carrying on its shoulders. one more upload could be the very last one that we could've won; we don't need any more. this is a direct path to getting +1 on that particular problem. that one has to go in the jar field, off the cliff.

and the nature of that problem requires an independently motivated group to conduct. and the nature of such a group requires ...uh, either monastic or Majestic reserve on the individuals involved, whichever one lights your candle or whatever. they need to stay out of politics as much as they feasibly can.

most intelligence organizations have similar perogatives for similar reasons, but this one truly means it. for real. usually.
