Australian Government is going to ban Youtube and Online Gaming for Under 16s
This goes hand in hand with a misinformation bill they are trying to pass through the senate.

The Australian Government are trying to basically ban under 16s from any thing social from the internet including online games, you tube, social media platforms, even roblox, reddit and discord.
The only way to enforce this is requiring everyone to prove who they are with their real world identity.
They are also trying to stop VPNs as well from circumventing this.

It's not about kids, its about introducing a digital id they can link to your real world identity so if you post something critical about the current government they can track and fine or arrest you.

It is entirely a parents responsibility to control their kids social media and gaming, not the governments.

This is bad for every single person in Australia, left or right, young or old.

Its likely going to take international outrage to stop this.

Based. Social media has ruined society and should be banned altogether.

Alright so you block the news outlet, another one named Dropstop pops up with a different sentence structure of the same headline.

A news report appears the numbers then begin to appear in ever other third party news report on different topics. Block those.

Find self reading and then twenty different advertisements appear and a login then a third party link. Block those.

Now have a huge block list reverse code a line to send each of those a request for a 2.25% of profits from them donation to continue viewing all said blocked.

Send money to gov't to educate children to begin to build battering rams to knock down doors instead of block and just take whats owed them.

social media like instagram, twitter n all that should be banned, not stuff like gaming and basic entertainment for kids, its like if libraries were banned, the "social media" they are banning are also valuable sources of information (obviously with misinformation but thats also the same with library books)

Sure, I agree entertainment should not be banned. Regarding social media, it used to be that a large chunk of the population was uninformed, but now they are minsinformed while believing themselves to be informed which is much worse. Not to mention all this short form content ruining everyones attention span.

Don't worry once they have digital ID's fully locked in place they'll let the kids play on the internet again,

Why can't we just go back to being uncertain about everything? Why does it matter that the one only truth is known to all?

I think if we were more tolerant of others believing in different things, the threat of misinformation would be lessened. Plus, we might learn to critically think in the process.

You mean like the mainstream media? The "authoritative experts" beyond questioning that are always right even when they're are proven to lie for profit and power again and again but still get special priviliges like the ability to cover any topic without being suppressed?
I agree social media would instantly improve where corporations and politicians not allowed to use it. The problem with social media is the illusion of choice and anti-consumer business model.
Majority of people will only see the manipulated paid ads clickbait and other garbage on there while thinking they see what they're searching for or whatever, personalization is used to the exact opposite effect as to how its advertised, against the user, because now scamming people on an overpriced cable plan is no longer the business model, so they constantly have to pull dirty tricks to keep people glued to the screen to watch as much garbage as possible.
Its just a more effective way to deliver the garbage but thats about it, nothing fundamentally different or new. This also wasn't an issue before monetization and censorship, when your first webcam video had equal chance to go on the YT frontpage as an established channels, those days however are long gone, the few bad actors are on the newly created whitelist and now its too late to do anything about it other than completely disregard these platforms.

Good. This is correct.
