Songs for Space?
Space is awesome. Sure, it's an empty void where any living being can't breath nor communicate vocally due to lack of air, but who cares! You can still listen to your Space Jam (Anyone? No?), however, it tends to help if you do have some of those Space Jams (I'm so alone) to listen to whilst roaming around this giant bowl of nothingness.

So, show me what you got (There's a Rick And Morty reference somewhere there), I need songs to listen to whilst playing Space Games, like Horizon: Zero Dawn, SW: Empire At War, and the soon-to-be-released, Stellaris.

Now any Genre will do, I started listening to 80's Pop and Rock songs, and it fits pretty well (Guardians Of The Galaxy, anyone?). I love the feel of 80's pop, as it gives you that strange, upbeat vibe, as if it doesn't quite fit with the timeline (1980 is quite far from 3478)

Any reccomendations on Genres/Songs/Artists, that would be great.

Try "drone" station on pandora. Ambient music that fits well with expansiveness of space.

Dude/Dudette, this is awesome! Thank you. For those of you who may read this, very calming, soothing, and best of all, it has fancy names.

Due to limitations, I, a South African citizen, cannot use Pandora. Insert banter and rage which will be forgotten in 4 seconds.

There are browser extensions to get around that. Hola is a popular one.

Alternatively, maybe you can find the genre on other streaming services.

I don't have any music for those interminable travels in the voids beteen stars. Even classical gets boring after a while. Space needs more action, and nobody did the epic, slow-motion, vast Fleet Encounter so well as Homeworld did:

This in turn inspired the music for another game:

and you can never go wrong with the OST from FTL:

Best of all, the soundtracks come with these games. Yours to do as you will with.

Nice selections, Golightly! I shall be borrowing these permanently, if you don't mind.

This track, Five Circles, always felt like a space track to me.

I can't believe no one posted this yet...

Of course they didn't, I already said even classical gets boring after a while. Space is really big, and it doesn't move very perceptibly. This is music for watching something with life in it. Space has none.

If we're going to do classical space music you might as well make it something exciting and topical......like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0bcRCCg01I

I get what you're saying. But you can't have a thread about music for space without Strauss. Nice selection by the way. I always loved the Mars overture. :)

Narrow-minded selection is what it is. Holt had a whole symphony for the planets and that's the only one I like. I stand by by my point that space is too boring for anything else, kind of like being in a naval ship. Nothing to see or do but anticipate SOME kind of action.

What can I say? I'm a phillistine in that regard. But I think Holt captured that in "Mars." The antcipation of war, the expectation of it, even the enactment of it, is always FAR better than what it ultimately yields. I have seen what it brings.

That said, it's still not boring space. Are we there yet?
