How could I explain the term "edgy" to someone?

Both me and my sister are french, and there's not an equivalent word for edgy in french. I can't find the words to explain her what does being edgy mean, could someone help me with that?

Basically this -- purposely adding/doing something or saying something controversial, "dark", sensitive, tragic, etc. for the sake of seeming more interesting.
