All Source games (excluding CS:GO) are just a black screen when I start it
Whenever I start a Source Engine game (Black Mesa, TF2, LFD2) the loading screen appears, but when the main menu appears, it's just a black screen. I can hear sound and the computer's fans speed up, but I can't play since it's just a black screen.

I have this problem with some games when the "Bloom" lighting option is enabled. You might try disabling it (via the config file, of course).

I did that, but it said no files were missing. That's actually the first thing I always do :P

Is the .cfg file called "config.cfg"? If so, then what is the name of the option in it?

Use your autoexec CFG File (if you dont have one make one MUST BE CFG File if you dont have one copy and paste one and call it autoexec) It is in your Config folder and put this in the File

Here is an Explaination

The autoexec is a .CFG file that you can input all the commands you want to use and it will run the commands automatically everytime you start up the game. IT IS RECOMMENDED that if you want to use ANY commands in this guide, use an autoexec as MOST commands will NOT save after you exit Gmod!

If you want to save commands so that you don't have to type them again every time you start up Gmod, you can put them in the autoexec.

Default location of autoexec: Steam/steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/cfg

here you will find a CFG file named: autoexec

Open it in notepad and put the commands you want to use commands in there, and the game will run the commands in the autoexec file every time you start up the game.

I tried that on Black Mesa, but it didn't fix it. I also put "-exec autoexec" into the launch options to make sure.
