True in a sense, but not one company has even attempted to make a RTS. There were some "good" Aliens games made before Isolation dating all the way back to the arcade era. It's an IP that's been around for a very long time to say the least. That's a good thing for the future of the lore and story. Alien and Aliens are some the most popular "sci-fi" movies on the entire planet to this day.
I've always thought Relic Entertainment would make a great one (RTS), but that's just me. I do have high hopes for Blackbird Interactive future (Deserts of Karack). While it's still way too early to say, i think they can garner some great talent if DoK succeeds.
That is a very good point. The atmosphere; music, detail of sounds within the environment would give that sense. Aliens is filled with all sorts of tension-inspiring sounds and environmental design. For an Aliens RTS i just don't think turn-based (X-Com) would do it justice. X-Com is it's own thing. Aliens has so much in terms of assets (Power Loaders, dropships, mining ships, air & land based vehicles, atmosphere processors). The Aliens as well. Have to remember that "Prometheus" is a part of the Aliens universe as well. So there's even more ideas and assets in which to be inspired
I give ya one good idea for an Aliens RTS: Anyone here heard of "Star Wars Forcecommander"?
Basically design an Aliens game after that Of course including space combat mechanics should now be easy.
