What does Game of the Year / GOTY mean?
I have seen many games "relabeled" to Game of the Year edition. What does this mean really? Is it same as saying "Enhanced edition"? normally, GOTY replaces the main edition, and what I have seen, GOTY always use the same engine as the main game, so what is GOTY really?

Eg, if you would explain the "Game of the Year edition" sentence in a dictionary, what would you write then?

Literally nothing, they just add all the dlc and the vanilla game in one package.
aah, so GOTY means like "[Game name] With Season pass included"?

Pretty much.

Well, at one time only people who actually earned GOTY awards did it.

Now companies run around declaring their own games as GOTY. Which is all fine and dandy, it's just lost it's original meaning.

This might have something to do with me giving a ♥♥♥♥ about awards back then, being a raving gaming fanboy at the time.
Yeh game awards don't mean anything anymore.
